Laughfest Wraps Up This Weekend With An Explosion Of Seriously Funny People And Events!

The Guilda's Club Laughfest wraps-up tomorrow night, but there are still plenty of fantastic comics & events to come! (Dan Stevens)

With Laughfest coming to an end this weekend with big acts tonight and tomorrow such as Kathleen Madigan, Colin & Brad and Gabriel Iglasias.  Tonight at 7pm at the Grand Rapids Art Museum is original Saturday Night Live writer & Best Selling Author Alan Zweibel to show why Laughfest coined the slogan “Seriously Funny”.  Remember the “Rockey Horror Picture Show?  Of course you do!  Read on!

To wrap things up with an explosion of laughter, is the LIVE performance of the seriously funny film, The Rockey Horror Picture Show, with FULL crowd participation encouraged?  Something seriously NOT to be missed!  That is happening at the Mosaic Space tomorrow night at 7:00pm.

I had the honor to be one of the celebrity judges last night for the “Best Of The Midwest” competition.  I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was certainly not disappointed!  Before I got there, I figured it was a bunch of amateurs.  Not at all!  These 10 comedians have been featured on Comedy Central, the Jay Leno Show, The Bob & Tom Show, CMT’s Next Big Comic, TruTV’s The Smoking Gun, and more.  I was very pleased with the presentation of these comedians.

Well, that is what is closing for laughfest!  I had a ton of laughs over the past 19 days, and I hope you did too.  Grand Rapids is a “Seriously Funny” city and should be proud that it put on such a fantastic showcase of laughter.

Heck, we even demolished Boston in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most chicken tossers!  Boston’s old record of 265 chicken tossers was smashed the Laughfest kick-off night Thursday the 10th with 925!  Also something for the great folks of GR to be proud of.

That’s my 2 cents on this awesome local event that dominated this city for 10 days straight.  And lets not forget the most important thing, well, at least in my opinion.  This was put together to benefit the free cancer, grief and support programs offered through Gilda’s Club.
