Every year to kick off their event, the folks at Gilda's Laughfest attempt to set a world record. They have failed only one time (and we can probably blame that on the weather).

This year, instead of breaking a new world record, they're going to try and take one back.

Back in 2011, LaughFest set a world record by gathering 925 people to throw rubber chickens at the same time. The record only lasted a few months, before it was broken by the Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church in Canada, who got 999 people to toss rubber chickens. This year, LaughFest wants to take that record back.

On March 10, LaughFest officials are hoping more than 1200 residents will show up to grab a rubber chicken and toss it, reclaiming a spot in the Guiness Book of World Records.

“This will be our sixth attempt to set a world record. We’re hoping to take back our original world record we set tossing rubber chickens in our first year of LaughFest,” said Wendy Wigger, President of Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids and LaughFest. “We’ve broken four out of five world records for most people wearing sunglasses in the dark, wearing false mustaches, wearing animal noses at a single venue and of course, number of rubber chickens tossed.”

In case you are wondering what over 900 people tossing rubber chickens looks like, here's footage from 2011.

The world record attempt will be followed with opening night events and activities including, a free Preview Show at Dr. Grin’s at The B.O.B, Laughter is Good Medicine at MSU, and Not From Here/Crawlspace Eviction at Dog Story Theater, at this time, Clean Comedy Showcase tickets are no longer available.

So here's the lowdown:

The world record attempt will be at 5:30pm on Thursday March 10 at Calder Plaza. Chickens will be provided for you, but you have to toss it yourself, so start practicing.
