Landlord’s Worst Nightmare: Tenants Turn 3 Bedroom Apartment into 10 Bedroom Motel
A landlord in New York is facing some challenges after getting the world's worst tenants.
The apartment is a three bedroom unit that was rented out from Eddie Shiew to Burak Firik and Dogan Kimilli for a whopping $2500 a month. Everything seemed to be going well after they signed the lease but soon a tenant on the first floor called Shiew to let him know the new neighbors were renovating.
Turns out they renovated their three bedroom apartment by turning it into ten small bedrooms, and started renting those rooms out to people on Airbnb.com (a site for people who are looking for cheap housing).
Shiew was livid! So he went into the unit, changed the locks and ripped down the new walls. Turns out, that's against the law and now he's in a legal battle with the two tenants who are STILL renting out space in the unit!
