Kid Rock's new album Born Free has debuted in the top spot on the Billboard Rock Albums chart this week. The album is Kid's eighth studio offering and follows 2007's Rock and Roll Jesus, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

In addition to grabbing the number one spot on the Rock Album's chart, Born Free also debuted at number five on the 200 chart. Rock enlisted legendary producer Rick Rubin for the album, which hit stores on November 16.

In a recent interview with CMT.com, the country rocker describes the album as "very organic blues based rock and roll." In addition to Rubin, the album features a list of other top collaborators including Bob Seger, Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown, T.I. and Martina McBride.

The lead single and title track went to radio in the U.S. on October 29.

BTW, Kid Rock is coming to VanAndel Arena after the holidays, Jan. 25th! Should be a GREAT show!
