On February 19, Kesha was denied an injunction against her alleged abuser, Dr. Luke, forcing her to fulfill her contractual obligations with the producer and Sony Records. (To be clear, she is reportedly free to record with other producers, but she will not be released from her record contract.)

The decision incited outrage from Kesha's passionate Animals and supporters of the #FreeKesha movement at large, and now many high-profile artists — especially fellow women — within the music community and Hollywood are voicing their opposition to the ruling across social media. Acts including Ariana Grande, Demi LovatoKelly Clarkson, Lorde, Lily Allen, Halsey and Alessia Cara have all voiced their dissent.

Girls creator and star Lena Dunham dedicated part of her Lenny newsletter to Kesha's case on February 23. Echoing many Kesha supporters' feelings on the case's latest development, Dunham wrote, "“To be clear, Kesha’s case is about more than a pop star fighting for her freedom…what’s happening to Kesha highlights the way that the American legal system continues to hurt women by failing to protect them from the men they identify as their abusers.”

"The fact that kesha has to choose to either freely make music or avoid the person who abused her is outrageous and degrading," wrote Bea Miller. "This is so heartbreaking. A woman actually gets the courage to speak up and its not enough? This world is disappointing," Kaley Cuoco said. Wale voiced his support with a simple heart emoji, quoting Kesha from months ago.
