Holiday shopping season is shoplifter hunting season for police, and the Kentwood Police Department is out to put a stop to it before it starts.

A new program called Preventing Retail Theft Through Initiative Collaboration and Enforcement (PRICE), is a program meant to deter thieves.

The program, that is in its first year, includes increased police patrols of parking lots and store check-ins to help scan for shoplifters. Police also teach workers how to spot shoplifters.

What does this mean for us? You know, the ones who play by the law and don't shoplift?

It means there will be a stronger police presence along the 28th Street corridor, which means safer travel and fewer car break-ins.
