Gordie Howe's family has decided to make the hockey legend's funeral and visitation open to the public.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. - a nod to Mr. Hockey's jersey number (9) during his time with the Red Wings. The visitation will take place at Joe Louis Arena.

The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15 at Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacramental in Detroit.

Sportsnet.ca reports that Howe will be cremeated and his family will not allow for his brain to be studied for concussion trauma.

Howe passed away on Friday, June 10 at the age of 88.
