Jillian from JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Reseach Foundation stopped by to talk about their upcoming walk.

The JDRF One Walk will be taking place at Ah Nab Awen park downtown Grand Rapids, this Saturday, September 10th.

Type 1 Diabetes or T1D is an autoimmune disease that affects both children and adults. It’s unrelated to diet or lifestyle.  The disease requires nonstop management and a lifelong dependence on insulin injections.  It also creates a constant worry of life-threatening complications.  Right now there is no cure, but that’s why JDRF is working so hard to raise money to continue both research for a cure and outreach programs for those affected by the disease.

There’s still time to sign up if you want to walk and help raise money for Type 1 Diabetes research.   You can also sign up to volunteer if walking isn’t your thing.  Get more information and sign up to walk or volunteer at walk.jdrf.org
