I have no research or numbers to back this up, but something occurred to me this week. I've been studying up on this scuba diving book, before this weekend's class, and the bookwork is fairly therapeutic.

I'm assuming if you're a college student, going through finals, you're not buying into my theory, but hear me out.

This weekend I'm heading over to American Dive Zone to take up some scuba diving lessons. (READ more about that here) As I'm going through the academics of this, I've realized that I've found an hour, each night, where I'm totally disconnected from everything else. No phone, no computer, no TV, no tablet; it's just me and my book.

I've found myself accessing different areas of my brain for the first time since high school. I didn't go to college, I've been full on in this radio career since my junior year in high school, 15 years!

Yes, I've picked up different hobbies and small lessons, but haven't really sat down in front of a lesson book, knowing there will be a test, since 2002.

I knew I was signing up for a different experience, but didn't think the process before the water would actually be fulfilling.

Why didn't I enjoy learning prior to 2002?

American Dive Zone has classes that teach you how to scuba dive. I take mine this Saturday and Sunday. If you're up for something different, get a hold of Mike and his crew and try to get into next month's class!
