If you were traveling near Zilwaukee, Michigan earlier this week, you may have seen an electronic road sign that caused you to do a bit of a double-take. The sign, generally used to warn drivers about delays and closings, got hacked by a prankster (who has not been identified) to display the message "I-75 Closed Ahead Due To Loose Gorilla".

According to MDOT officials, the prank wasn't discovered by them until the next morning, and they have no idea how someone was able to hack the sign in the first place.

As of now, there hasn't been a criminal complaint filed, but the incident is being investigated. MDOT is doing what they can to ensure that nothing like this is able to happen again.

Looks like whoever pulled off this prank will likely get off Scott-free, as MDOT officials say that with electronic hacking like this, it's nearly impossible to trace it back to the source.
