Nope, this is not a headline from The Onion, this is real.  We have officially gone mad!  Different communities across the country are in talks to ban hoodies and sledding, for unrelated reasons.

Let's start with sledding

The Associated Press reports that yet another city, in the land of the free, will be banning sledding.  Dubuque, Iowa is the latest to join a growing number of communities who are taking a stand against childhood fun.  In all fairness, you can't really blame the city, they're just reacting to multi-million dollar judgements against Omaha and Sioux City.  Each city is being sued after various sledding accidents.

Research shows that more than 20,000 children are treated for sledding-related injuries each year.  Most children are hurt during collisions, which could cause traumatic brain injuries.

I get there is a danger, as there is with anything we do.  I would never wish harm on any children, but come on, we're over protecting here.  Grab a helmet, put it on your child's head and let them have fun.  Let them experience life.  Banning kids from such a simple activity is SCARY for our future as a society.  Again, I'm looking at those who think a multi-million dollar lawsuit will solve everything, you're killing society.

What's Up With The Hoodie?

I love my hoodies!  Don't worry, I don't plan on robbing a bank.  I might slum around Walmart, trying to find some pork rinds, but I will pay for them.

A state legislator in Oklahoma is proposing an amendment that would throw a $500 fine on people who cover their face with clothing, this includes wearing a hoodie.

This is sort of funny, because right now they have a law that makes it illegal to wear hoodies while committing a crime.  Well, if you're committing a crime, why not go all in? Right? (Sarcasm)

Playing both sides, the state is trying to make it illegal for people to conceal their identity in a public place.  I see what they're trying to do there, but really?  We had these dress codes in high school.

Conclusion

The good news is NONE of this would ever fly in our state.  You take hoodies and sledding away from Michiganders, you're taking away their soul.

Two more reasons it's great to live in this state.
