In an era where so many major retailers are beginning their Black Friday deals well into Thanksgiving, clothing store H&M has decided to keep its doors closed for at least a little while longer.

Earlier this week, H&M announced that they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year. According to Bloomberg, Daniel Kulle, the president of H&M’s North American operations, said, “In the tradition of Thanksgiving, H&M will close our U.S. stores on Thanksgiving Day, allowing our store teams to enjoy this time with their families and friends.”

What time H&M will officially reopen is unclear, but the fashion store's Thanksgiving Day closure is atypical, especially given their previous history of remaining open on the holiday. H&M joins Staples and REI on the list of stores intentionally remaining closed until at least Black Friday, in contrast to other big-box stores (Walmart, Target, etc.), whose deals are beginning Thanksgiving evening.
