Sunday afternoon and evening brought high winds into much of West Michigan causing power outages across the area.

According to WOOD-TV 8, Consumers Energy expects more outages throughout the evening.

As of 7 p.m. Kent county has reported just under 12,000 outages, most around Kentwood, Grandville, Plainfield Township, and areas around 4 Mile Road, Dean Lake Avenue, 3 Mile Road and Plainfield Avenue.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 2 a.m. for much of West Michigan. High winds seem to be the largest concern, though small hail is expected, and there is a possibility of an isolated tornado.
