Halloween is a lot of fun for the little goblins, but it is important to take a few steps to ensure everyone stays safe this year.

First, make sure you check our list of Halloween trick or treating times in West Michigan.  Next, review the tips below with your kids to make sure everyone is set for a safe Halloween.

  1. Traffic safety:  Halloween is a dangerous night for pedestrians.  Walk in groups, don't let costumes obstruct view, use the sidewalk, and bring a flashlight.  If you're driving, slow down.
  2. Fire safety:  Make sure costumes are flame-retardant.  Take special care of candles and jack-o-lanterns.  Halloween is one of the worst days of the year for candle fires.
  3. Check out the kids' candy if there is any question about where it came from.  (if they got any good chocolate, feel free to test it...just to be safe)

Have a fun and safe Halloween!
