Grand Valley State University students will have the opportunity to take a new, one-credit elective course this fall which combines history and discussions about race. The course is named Black Lives Matter.

Black Lives Matter is offered through the African/African American Studies program which is part of the Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies.

The course will be taught by Louis Moore, an associate professor of history. Moore is also the African/African American Studies program coordinator.

GVSU says the class will include readings, discussion and research of the history of police brutality in America.

Black Lives Matter will be offered Sept. 12 - Oct. 14, on Mondays and Fridays from 11AM - 12:15PM in room 214 of the Connection. The course is listed as IDS/AAS 180.
