November 1st came and went, parking restrictions started, and we haven’t been ticketed if we just kept doing what we did through the summer. Well, that’s all about to change.

GRPD has announced that now winter weather is impacting the city, the grace period is over on the odd/even parking restrictions.  Technically, the restrictions went into effect November 1st, but Sgt. Dixon told WOODTV  they do the grace period so the change in restrictions don't catch people off guard, which is very appreciated by me!

“The primary reason why we have this ordinance is for snow removal, so emergency vehicles and service vehicles can travel safely through the roadways,” Dixon explained.

Remember, the odd/even parking ordinance is in effect from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.  So, between 1 a.m. and 6 p.m. on even dates, park on the side of the street with even number addresses; on odd dates, park on the odd side of the street. (addresses, not neighbors. Haha)

SIDE NOTE:  So the street I live on now has a NO PARKING on one side of the street from Nov.1 through April 1, which sucks.

The part that sucks is how people aren't conscious of how much space they take up. Keep in mind if you park on one of those streets, that EVERY resident has to park on that side of the street... Don't park in the middle of what could be two spots. Be a good neighbor!!

Okay, I'm done. :)
