Our society has been on a kale kick for a while now. It's the "it" food because of its many benefits. But it could be getting kicked to the curb instead.

Science Alert says new research suggests that cockroach milk is the superfood of the future. Cockroaches technically don't produce milk but they contain a certain type of protein crystal which has 4x the nutrition of cow milk.

According to one of the scientists behind the research:

"The crystals are like a complete food - they have proteins, fats and sugars. If you look into the protein sequences, they have all the essential amino acids..."

It's also a time-released food which means even after digestion it continues to release more proteins.

If you're looking to cut the calories, then bad news, because cockroach milk is high in calories and would be needed by someone who needed the fast nutrition the protein supplies.

So what do you think? Can cockroach milk really be the next kale? No thanks! I can care less how "super" a food is, if it's coming out of a cockroach or any type of bug I'm not having it. In the mean time I'll stick to kale and quinoa.
