As the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 approaches, there are many ways to remember those who were lost.  This Sunday at 8:00am people will gather at the Amway Grand for the 9/11 Stair Climb to remember the 343 firefighters who were killed on 9/11/01.

The stair climb will cover 110 flights of stairs.  That's equal to how far firefighters climbed on 9/11 during their rescue efforts at the World Trade Center.

WZZM gives us more on the 9/11 Stair Climb:

To honor those who died, an Ada teen is remembering their heroic efforts this 9/11. He's asking you to climb with him.

17-year-old Zach Schleiffer is a junior firefighter at Cascade Township. On 9/11,  he and  Lance Korhorn are organizing a stair climb to honor the 343 firefighters who died that day.

Korhorn says, "I think it's going to make firefighters and civilians realize the heroes that day - what they went through - climbing the stairs to rescue the people who were trapped."

It's West Michigan's first 9/11 stair climb and they're asking the public to climb alongside firefighters at the Amway Grand. The money raised will help families of fallen firefighters.

Registration starts at 8:00am at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel on Sunday, Sept. 11.  Adults - $25, students with ID $10, but discounts available for families.

I can't think of a better reason to get some exercise this Sunday morning.
