Grand Rapids is not alone as each county assesses the 2011 property values throughout West Michigan and the state.

As a matter of a fact, only three areas have seen a slight boost and include East Grand Rapids, Cannon and Courtland townships.   Good for those property owners -- especially if I'm talking about you, right?

For the rest of us, property values may have dropped anywhere from one to ten percent in the past twelve months!  Grand Haven township, for example has seen a more than four-percent drop while Grand Rapids is right around 3.7 percent less than a year ago.

What does all of this mean?  If you're looking to buy a new house then this is the perfect market and timing!  If you don't have to move -- that's perfect too!  Stay put, if you can, and wait for the market to possibly recover a bit.  Meanwhile, enjoy lower property taxes!
