The book Polar Express came out 30 years ago in 1985 and has made 12 million in book sales since then, there's also the motion picture starring Tom Hanks,AND best part? It turns out is was inspired by Grand Rapids!

The author Chris Van Allsburg took his fond memories of visiting Grand Rapids as a kid and turned that into what is one of the most beloved Christmas books and now Christmas movie of our time!

The book and movie are soo popular because of their strong appeal to parents and grand parents with fond memories of Christmas shopping at small toy stores that were all decked out in Christmas decorations and toys.

When making the film Van Allsburg say the filmmakers actually visited Grand Rapids to be able to set the scene for the film. Pretty cool!!!

If you're a fan of the book or movie Van Allsburg will be in town on Sunday for a book signing at Schuler Books & Music!!!
