Grand Rapids could be home to a new professional football team in 2017.

WZZM-13 reports a group of investors are attempting to form a new league called the United States Football League (USFL). The USFL would include players cut from pro-training camps, divided up into eight different teams. The idea behind the players is to get them another shot at the NFL.

The fourteen game season could come to Grand Rapids as early as March 2017, but Salt Lake City and Tulsa are also in the conversation. The season would run during the NFL's off season.

Officials say they need to raise more money before this becomes reality.
