A Grand Rapids coffee shop has issued a formal apology on its website to its customers who are parents.

The Sparrows Coffee, Tea, and Newstand, located at 1035 Wealthy St. NE, posted the apology today, expressing regret to parents for something it hadn't realized until recently was a problem -- there were no changing stations in its restrooms.

Lori Slager Wenzel said having a child of her own made her realize the lack of changing stations in the shop's restrooms, saying.

Before long, the day came when I had to change my daughter’s blow-out diaper on the floor. THE FLOOR! Where hundreds of people put their dirty outside shoes on a daily basis. What??!?

I always thought we were so family-friendly at Sparrows, but had completely overlooked our lack of a diaper changer in the restroom. For this, I offer my sincerest apologies. In the future, know that we aim to be as family-friendly as possible, and would love your suggestions for improvement."

Wenzel also clarified: "I promise I had this post in mind before all of the Ashton Kutcher hubbub about changing tables in mens rooms. But, I have to say, he does have a point."
