The #RaiseTheAge campaign, a movement to increase the required age to purchase tobacco from 18 to 21, has been gaining momentum across the country.  Many cities and towns have introduced legislation to increase the age required to purchase tobacco products, including Ann Arbor, who raised the age to 21 late last year.

The trend is spreading across Michigan and at 9:00 a.m today, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners will host a meeting to discuss raising the required age to purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21.  This type of restriction doesn't need to be made on the state or federal level, so many towns and cities are bringing legislation to a vote by their residents.
