Game of Thrones Season 6 addressed major theories and returned fan-favorites moreso than ever, but one notable omission was felt by all. Well, Season 7 may finally answer your prayers to the Seven, as a long-lost Game of Thrones star has been spotted rowing around Belfast!

Take this with a gallon of salt water, and some serious spoiler warnings from here on out, but it seems that reliable Belfast airport may yet have given away another big Game of Thrones return. Per Vanity Fair, it seems Joe Dempsie (Gendry) is mysteriously present around Game of Thrones production’s central hub, or … at least someone who looks vaguely like him?

Most Game of Thrones fans well-remember that the object of Arya’s gaze (and true Baratheon heir, while we’re at it) was last seen rowing away from Dragonstone at Ser Davos’ urging, lest he be burned at the stake for Melisandre and Stannis’ preoccupation with king’s blood. Dempsie famously coined the “Still rowin’…” joke one year later, which in two years since became a fan meme for discarded characters, at least until Season 6 again left Gendry the only one unaccounted for.

Of course, even if Dempsie did visit Belfast, there’s no guarantee that Gendry has a place in Season 7. Most Game of Thrones stars spotted around town do end up returning, whether Rory McCann or Natalie Tena and Art Parkinson, but temper your expectations for now. Lest we forget, the seas may not be a very safe place next year.

Elsewhere of Game of Thrones Season 7, a list of directors for the year has been announced, along with rumors of some major set pieces, while at least a portion of filming will take place in Iceland. Harry Potter star Jim Broadbent has been confirmed for a “significant” role, but sadly without Angela Lansbury.

We’ll learn plenty more in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, check out the first Game of Thrones Season 7 production tease below.
