Funeral Service Planned For Grand Rapids Businessman Peter Wege

Family and friends, along with the community of Grand Rapids, will remember the life of businessman and philanthropist Peter Wege on Friday morning.

Wege died on Monday at the age of 94.

Wege was the son of the founder of Steelcase, and was also one of Grand Rapids’ biggest philanthropists.

Wege also invested money into education, healthcare and arts programs in Grand Rapids through the Wege Foundation.

His personal slogan, and that of the Wege Foundation was an inspirational one:

Do all the good you can

For as many people as you can

For as long as you can

For all the right reasons.

A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral of St. Andrew. It will be followed by a private internment at Graceland Memorial Park & Mausoleum.

Family has asked that in lieu of flowers, people make a memorial donation to a charity of their choice.
