As Wendy Reed posted a few days ago, Frederick Meijer Gardens has released their complete lineup of summer concerts.  There is plenty of reason to be excited.  It's the best lineup they've ever had.

A quick note to nationally touring musicians, selling a lot of tickets is all that is necessary to book a show at many venues.  Not Frederick Meijer Gardens.  At Frederick Meijer Gardens it helps to actually have talent. This season proves it.

There's the best pop has to offer in Sara Bareilles on August 10.

There's Steve Martin.  And if you thought Steve Martin's show with The Steep Canyon Rangers was just a gimmick, think again.  Did you know Steve Martin won the Grammy for best Bluegrass album in 2009?

There's an interesting combo of Michiganders in Jeff Daniels and Brian Vander Ark on August 21, plus Matt Giraud on June 16.

There's a list of music legends including Buddy Guy (June 23), Elvis Costello (June 27), and Peter Frampton (July 4).

Plus, my personal favorite of this season, G. Love & Special Sauce (June 19).  After years of trying, I finally had a chance to see G. Love last year, at The Intersection in GR.  It was a fun show and will only get better with a cold beverage and some sunshine.  And yes, I like cold beverages.

Looking forward to a summer of great music, and already dreaming about next year.  Adelle, Jack Johnson, and a return appearance from Brandi Carlile top my wish list.  (It's hard not to expect a return from Ms. Carlile after a review like this.)

The bad news - gas is $4/gallon.  The good news - you don't have to travel far to see some great live music this summer.
