Freak Accident On I-94 Caused One Fatality

A Saturday afternoon accident on I-94 in Portage took one life, and injured two.

WOOD -TV 8 reports a set of dual-tires fell off a semi-truck heading westbound on I-94 around 2 p.m., the tires bounced over the median and struck a 2013 Honda Accord traveling eastbound.

The backseat passenger, a 67-year-old woman from Illinois, passed away at the scene. The 34-year-old male driver was in critical condition, and the front seat passenger was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities are asking for any information, as the incident is still under investigation. Those who saw the accident are asked to call the Portage Department of Public Safety at 269-329-4567.
