Four Ways to Save Money on Your Halloween Costume
According to the National Retail Federation, the average American will spend $77.52 on Halloween this year. But if you want to bring that number down a little, here are four ways to save money on your costume.
1. Do a costume swap. Meaning you get together with friends, and trade your old costumes. This is especially good if you have small kids, or know someone with a bunch of old costumes. Some churches and rec centers hold costume swaps too.
2. Make a costume yourself. Which might be intimidating if you're not all that crafty. But it's easier if you go on sites like Pinterest or YouTube, where you can find step-by-step instructions for pretty much ANY costume now.
3. Go to a thrift shop. You can either mix-and-match to make a costume, or most thrift shops sell FULL costumes too, especially for kids. Just go soon, before all the GOOD stuff is gone.
4. Find what you want, and then buy it online. With sales and coupon codes, it's almost always cheaper to buy online. And there's still plenty of time, even if it takes a week to ship it.
