For the third consecutive year Founders Brewing Co. will brew a beer for ArtPrize which will also help raise money for the event.

This year's beer will be brewed in the traditional Kolsch style and is called Spectra Trifecta.

Beer Advocate describes Kolsch style beer: "Light to medium in body with a very pale color, hop bitterness is medium to slightly assertive. A somewhat vinous (grape-y from malts) and dry flavor make up the rest."

Founders describes Spectra Trifecta as a bright, golden beer. It uses a "trifecta of natural ingredients: earthy, floral and slightly sweet chamomile; a touch of citrusy lemongrass; and a hint of spicy fresh ginger."

Spectra Trifecta is 5.9% ABV and 20 IBUs.

The label art was made by Alexis Brooke, a Grand Rapids native and an employee of Founders. It was made with markers, ink and watercolors.

Spectra Trifecta will be made available for a limited time beginning Sunday, September 13, in Michigan, Wisconsin, New York City and Chicago.
