Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm’s book ‘A Governor’s Story: The Fight for Jobs and America’s Economic Future’ was set to go on sale on September 20.  It was made available sooner than expected when a Lansing bookstore began selling it this week.

The book should be available everywhere on September 20.

The Detroit News received an advanced copy of the book and they give us some details about what’s inside:

Former Gov. Jennifer Granholm reveals in her new book she considered  abandoning a bid for re-election in 2006, settles scores with some former state  legislators and recounts her battle to save the U.S. auto industry.

She also discloses she thought there was “overwhelming” evidence to remove  former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick from office.

Granholm says Michigan’s unemployment rate would have topped 20 percent if GM  and Chrysler had collapsed in late 2008, arguing the move “would have bankrupted  Michigan and potentially other states.”

Granholm called the White House on Dec. 11, 2008, to urge President George W.  Bush to rescue GM and Chrysler, but couldn’t reach him. Eight days later, Bush  approved a $17.4 billion bailout. “In one of his last acts in office, George W.  Bush may have saved U.S. manufacturing,” she wrote.

Some interesting discoveries and plenty to discuss.
