WestFest, West Grand Rapids’ biggest family festival has announced their slate of events for May 18, 19, 20 and 21 at John Ball Park and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish on 156 Valley Ave, Grand Rapids. Usually held in April, this event is being held in May this year in hopes for great weather.

Father Robert Sirico, pastor of Sacred Heart extends an invitation for all to experience an event designed to “open the community’s eyes to the fun, creativity and diversity of Grand Rapids’ West Side. In this spirit, west side neighborhood associations such as West Grand Neighborhood Organization and John Ball Area Neighbors have been invited to be in attendance. You don’t have to live on the west side, to enjoy WestFest…all are welcome!

The Midwest’s finest carnival presented by Skerbeck Entertainment will occupy the green space at beautiful John Ball Park May 18, 19, 20 and 21. Over 40 rides, games and concessions will be available to all Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The first 275 carnival wristband purchased in person at the Sacred Heart Parish office will receive a free one-day admission to John Ball Zoo to be used anytime during the 2017 season.  All day ride tickets are only $20.00 in advance and $28.00 if purchased at the midway. New this year!  We will be serving a local WestFest Pale Ale in our Beer and Food tent this year, crafted especially for WestFest by the expert brewmasters at the The Mitten Brewing Company located on the west side!  You will be able to order WestFest Pale Ale along with The Mitten’s Triple Crown Brown all weekend long.  It will even be available on tap for a limited time at The Mitten Brewing Company following WestFest! The WestFest Beer and Food tent will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday May 19, noon to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday May 20 and noon to 6:00 on Sunday May 21.

On Saturday, May 20, the third annual WestFest Classic Car show will take place on the Sacred Heart Parish Grounds. Dozens of gorgeous classic cars will compete to take home the trophy for best entry from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event is free to the public.

In the evening on Saturday May 20, Harold and Gladys’ Big Fat 1920’s Prohibition Wedding Reception will be the best yet with dinner, music, hilarious role players and more!  Many have raved about the food from our special caterer and they will be back again this year to wow you!  Tickets are $20 per adult, $10 for children under 13.
