Eric Knysz Gets Life in Prison for Killing Michigan State Trooper Paul Butterfield in Mason County
A 20-year-old Irons man was sentenced this afternoon to life in prison for killing Michigan State Trooper Paul Butterfield during a September 2013 traffic stop.
Eric Knysz received a life term from Mason Circuit Court Judge Richard Cooper, The Ludington Daily News reported.
In February, a Mason County Circuit Court jury of nine women and three men found Knysz guilty of murdering Butterfield in a shootout at a gas station.
Knysz was found guilty of the murder of a peace officer, stealing a car and two weapons charges.
