Enterovirus Case Confirmed at West Michigan School

Newschannel 3 is reporting that there has been a confirmed case of Enterovirus D68 at a Portage school.

According to a spokeswoman from Portage Public Schools, the case was discovered at Haverhill Elementary.

Newschannel 3 says that the patient was not a student, but that officials would not offer any further details.

Cleaning crews were brought in around 8:00 p.m. Monday, and the school was sanitized in accordance with recommendations from the CDC.

The school sent out a robocall to parents Monday night to reassure them that all proper steps were being taken to ensure the safety of students at the school
