A basic ecigarette is a battery with a tank that has a coil that heats (vaporizes) the e-liquid in the tank.

Eliquid is the liquid that is put in the tank and vaporized to be inhaled by the user.

What is in E-liquid?
Propylene glycol is considered generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and it is used as a preservative in food and for tobacco products, as well as being one of the major ingredients of the "e-liquid" used in electronic cigarettes along with vegetable glycerin. Vaporizers used for delivery of pharmaceuticals or personal care products often include propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is used as a solvent in many pharmaceuticals, including oral, injectable and topical formulations, such as for diazepam and lorazepam.

Vegetable Glycerin is widely used in the food industry and in many medical formulations such as cough syrup.

Flavoring agents used are similar to those used in candy and other food products.
Nicotine is extracted from tobacco and is an optional ingredient.
