Those who work in the restaurant industry aren't always appreciated for the hard work they do. It's an industry that requires a lot out of someone, physically and mentally. So it's a good feeling when they are recognized for the stuff they deal with on a daily basis.

A generous tip is definitely one way to show your appreciation for a waiter or waitress who went above and beyond for you. A restaurant in Colorado had a lot to celebrate this past weekend when a customer left a $1,088 tip on a $60 bill, reports The Denver Post.

Everyone was so thrilled, thinking they were finally being recognized for all of their hard work, and it was decided that the staff would split the tip. However, the business owner thought it was wise to put the money to the side just in case the man came back... and that's exactly what happened.

As soon as the restaurant opened the next day, the man who left the tip was there asking for his money back.

“He said, ‘I’m sorry, I was drunk,’ ” she said. “He didn’t know he put all the money he had in the checkbook.”

And, the owner, gave him the money back! He ended up giving her $100 to cover the $60 bill plus a $40 tip.

How embarrassing but the business owner handled the situation well.

Do you think the customer should've asked for his money back?
