Dole packaged salads have been recalled after a listeria outbreak that killed one person in Michigan, and hospitalized 11 others.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the listeria affected people not only in Michigan but also Indiana, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

The bacteria was connected back to a processing facility in Springfield, Ohio which has now been shut down.

Dole is also withdrawing all packaged salads that were produced there, according to the CDC. The salads were sold under a variety of brand names, including Dole, Fresh Selections, Simple Truth, Marketside, The Little Salad Bar and President's Choice."

If you bought these salads throw them away immediately and clean the area in the fridge you kept them in. In addition to any cutting boards or utensils the salad came in contact with.

Listeria symptoms include fever and muscle aches and sometimes followed by diarrhea or gastro problems. People at high risk include anyone with a weakened immune system, pregnant women, newborns and the elderly.
