Summer’s almost here and we want to spend as much time as we can with our friends and family… including the furry family members! We totally understand. There’s also nothing better than eating some grub or grabbing a few drinks and catching up with friends on a patio, it’s a true summer treat!

We took some time to figure out which patios around Grand Rapids are “dog friendly” so the next time you go to meet friends, you can take the WHOLE family!

Remember, it's the patio that's "dog friendly" not necessarily the indoor dining room. And of course, if you find another dog friendly patio, let us know in the comments.

    One Trick Pony

One Trick Pony, on Fulton, tops the list. They are mentioned repeatedly in comments for being such a great dog friendly patio… maybe it’s because not only do they welcome your pup, they actually give your dog a special marrow bone during dinner! (136 E Fulton St.)

    The Mitten Brewing Company

The Mitten Brewing Company, on Leonard, is known for their creative and delicious pizza and classic style beers. The Mitten Brewing Co. is a good place just out of the downtown bustle to enjoy dinner and a drink or a pizza flight (yes a pizza flight, you get to taste six different pizzas) with your dog on their pet friendly patio. (527 Leonard St NW)

    Sundance Grill

Sundance Grill, on Ottawa (downtown), is not only a great place for breakfast all day, delicious tacos, or a BLT Bloody Mary during brunch (have you seen/had one yet?!), the patio at Sundance is also d-o-g friendly! (151 Ottawa Ave NW)

    Harmony Brewing Company

Harmony Brewing Company – whether it’s a  beer or  a place with gluten free choices while you’re out with fido, Harmony looks to be the perfect choice. They’re located in relaxing Eastown; parking seems to be the big issue, but with buzz around their pizza and excellent beer selection, it seems to be a problem that can be quickly overlooked. Elk Brewing Company

Elk Brewing Company, on Wealthy Downtown Grand Rapids. While the location is smaller, it’s been described as quaint, modern and fun. A lot of compliments on the friendly staff, makes this a definite patio stop. They have a smaller food menu with some sandwiches and appetizers, but their beer is really why you stop by Elk Brewing. Looking through YELP reviews, a lot of people like trying the “experimental brews” the few that popped up: The Peanut Butter and Jelly beer, the Cream Soda and the Coffee Porter. They also have an awesome patio that is so dog friendly, they supply a water dish and a few toys for the dogs. (700 Wealthy St SE)

    Big Bob's Pizza

Big Bob’s in East GR call themselves the “Cheers” of East Grand Rapids.  Do you need more of a reason to stop by?  They’re known for their pizzas but they have a pretty large menu with sandwiches, calzones, pastas and something called the Briazzo!  According to their menu a Briazzo is “the biggest, baddest deep dish pizza outside Chicago." It looks delicious and you can try it while out on the patio while your dog enjoys some time away from the house.  (661 Croswell Ave SE)
