This photo has been causing quite the commotion over the past few days. What do you think? Is it the moon, or Earth?

It's way too freaking cold out these days. It comes as no surprise that the Earth could have been mistaken for the moon when this photo was taken a few days ago via satellite.

In fact, this photo could have potentially been taken of US! NASA posted the photo the other day and explained the that picture was of the Midwestern "white out" conditions. All the ice, snow, and wind that blew it everywhere created the photo with the "moonish" appearance.

NASA wrote:

NOAA's GOES-East satellite captured a Midwestern wintertime "White Out" at 2015 UTC/3:15 p.m. EST on January 6, 2014. Blowing snow and intensely cold air created dangerous white-out conditions over the Midwest, particularly around the Great Lakes, where daytime temperatures averaged -20F with a wind chill near -50F.
