Yesterday we received the bad news that around 400 Grand Rapids area DTE customers were without gas. Today we receive some good news.

Consumers Energy says that West Michigan natural gas customers can expect to pay less for their heating bills this winter.

Consumers Energy expects prices to be about 3% less than last winter.  They say an average residential customer would pay a monthly bill of $141 down from $145 last year.  The lower cost estimate is due to reduced fuel prices and assumes a normal weather pattern.

Sounds good, a few extra bucks is nice, but counting on a "normal weather pattern" in West Michigan isn't exactly a safe bet.
