The challenge for Curtis for the "Connie & Curtis" "Elf" Contest was to see how much Mrs. Butterworth's maple syrup he could chug in 95.7 seconds on Channel 95.7's "Connie and Curtis."

So, how much could he chug?

Curtis said "he was a little nervous for the syrup drink. I'm feeling butterflies."

The 64 ounces of syrup was served up at room temperature of 68 degrees this morning in the Channel 95.7 studios in downtown Grand Rapids as lake effect snow fell outside.

"The goal here is not to chug the whole thing," he said. "It's to see how much I could drink."

As Connie pointed out: "Curtis loves to do this kind of stuff, and then he just complains for the rest of the day."

Need evidence: Well, the Fifth Third Burger.

"It's ... mapley," said Curtis, who'd been nursing through some illness the past couple days and had a little bit of a gag reflex during the chug.

"What goes in ...," Curtis said.

"We don't care where it comes out," Connie said.

"I probably could've had another drink had you not made me laugh," Curtis said.

He figured it was about 16 servings at 200 calories per -- 3,200 calories of maple syrup chugging total. Basically, he finished half the bottle of maple syrup.

Connie said: "Well, that was disgusting."

Yes, it was. However, Curtis' syrupy quest paid off for some Channel 95.7 listeners of "Connie & Curtis."

There were 108 entries for the "Elf" contest's maple syrup challenge, with 41 currently predicting Curtis would only finish half his syrupy container.

The grand prize winner selected from the entries gets four tickets to see the Nov. 28 performance of the musical production of "Elf", presented by Broadway Grand Rapids at DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids; an overnight stay at the Amway Grand Plaza hotel; and a Christmas tree from Bosch's Countryview Nursery.
