Edward Switalski, Comstock Fire and Rescue’s Chief, passed away Wednesday night after being hit by a car responding to an accident on I-94. The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. near Sprinkle Rd.

WWMT reports that a driver lost control of their vehicle and struck Switalski and his vehicle. First responders attempted to save him, but he died on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, and it’s unclear what caused them to lose control of the vehicle.
