A computer simulation says no college football team in the country has a better chance to go undefeated than Western Michigan University.

It's not even close.

ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts college football results. The predictions are “based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule.”

The simulation gives Western Michigan a 43.4 percent chance to finish the regular season undefeated. That's the highest percentage of any undefeated team.

On September 3, the same simulation gave WMU a 1.0 percent chance of remaining undefeated. That was the 10th best chance in the nation.

The University of Michigan ranked 4th with a 7.1 percent chance on September 3. Today, Michigan ranks 3rd at 34.2 percent.

The ratings are updated daily.
