The family of former Fennville basketball star Wes Leonard received a special gift today from a company hoping to celebrate his life.

Leonard died in March after suffering cardiac arrest on the basketball court. Though he was a star on the basketball court and football field for Fennville High School, his sports career started much earlier than high school.

THE RUSH, which is a company that specializes in putting together sports highlights, poured through hours of video from Wes' athletic events and created a digital archive of his athletic achievements, from childhood to high school.

"We worked with the athletic director at Fenville High School, he sent us hours of DVDs of Wes's games," RUSH Spokesperson Mike Brinich told WZZM 13. "We went back and scored those in real time as if we were doing a real game. We went through many hours of tape and created over 100 highlights of Wes's athletic accomplishments."

Wes' parents will have access to a private webpage so they can watch those special moments, forever.

THE RUSH also made a donation of $5,000 to the Wes Leonard Heart Team Fund. On their website, the Heart Team states:

Our mission is to honor Wes’s life using a team approach, combining the efforts of his loved ones and other existing foundations in the pursuit of a common goal. The Wes Leonard Heart Team is committed to honoring the children who have lost their lives to Sudden Cardiac Arrest and preventing other families and friends from feeling the pain of losing their loved ones. With this team approach we feel we can give others a chance at “one more game”.

If you'd like to make a donation to the Wes Leonard Heart Team Fund, you can do that here. Just be sure to type "Wes Leonard Heart Team" in the Fund Name field.
