If you live in the city of Grand Rapids and you want a chicken, things are starting to go your way.

WZZM 13 reports the City Commission passed amendments to a proposed ordinance that will allow people to house chickens within the city limits.

Some of the changes include allowing chickens to be kept at homes with small lots and in locations where there are two family units. Roosters are still a no-go due to noise issues.

So what's up with the changes? There's a local food movements that has pushed this along, simply put, more people want to know where their food is coming from.

A final vote is expected in a couple weeks.
