A strong storm ripped through West Michigan Saturday afternoon producing a tornado and causing extensive damage throughout the area.

The storm began in Van Buren County and worked its way northeast throughout the area. After causing damage in Wyoming and crossing over 28th Street, the storm seemed to be heading straight for downtown Grand Rapids.

Weather experts believe that the buildings in downtown GR helped weaken the storm a bit, but it continued north toward Plainfield, Cannonsburg, Grattan, and Belmont.

When all was said an done, there was a lot of damage across the region. Check out some of the damage being shown on Facebook and Twitter.
