Joe Knight’s Insight: Hockey Is Back, NHL And Players Union Agree To Deal
The NHL and the Players Union agreed earlier this morning to end the Lockout that has cost us (former) fans many games this season. YAY! Sorry, can you sense my sarcasm.

Zach Hodskins, a 6'2 Junior for Milton High School in Georgia, was born with just one arm. That didn't stop him from becoming an insanely good basketball player. His highlight reel shows he can do just about anything on the court

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.: Originally it was thought that Adam Lanza, the gunman, shot his mother at the Sandy Hook Elementary school, where she was a teacher's aide. ABC has learned that, in fact, Nancy Lanza was killed at her home (by her son) prior to the massacre. He then drove to the school, where he killed 20 children and six adults, before killing himself.
I have seen people get crazy for doing some stupid things, but nothing is more idiotic then drinking alcohol and getting behind a wheel of a vehicle. More times then not, people know that this does not normally turn out well, especially for people in the public eye.
The 2012 Michigan High School Football season wrapped up on Saturday, with another West Michigan school taking home the championship trophy.
Grand Rapids Christian won the Division 3 championship. West Catholic was runner-up in Division 5.
It was a big day for West Michigan high school football!
Both Grand Rapids South Christian and Muskegon played in championship games at Ford Field.
South Christian beat Detroit Country Day to take the Division 4 title! Muskegon came up short losing to Birmingham Brother Rice in Division 2.
It's two days before Thanksgiving, and I'm talking baseball. How does THAT work out? The Whitecaps have introduced a new hat the team will wear on the road for the 2013 season. With a new logo. It's an homage to the Old English "D" the Tigers wear, and have worn, for over 110 years.
As usual, the Lions are having another stellar season. They will have to win the remaining games to hit the 10 win level that they reached last season. In other words, there's a good chance they won't make the playoffs again. But, regardless of their record, the Lions ALWAYS play one high profile game a year. On Thanksgiving.
The NCAA didn't want Grand Rapids to host part of March Madness, the ultimate in basketball, but what do they know. The VanAndel would have been the perfect choice.
Okay, enough sour-grapes. They do love us for hockey.
West Michigan schools' successful run through the Michigan High School Football Playoffs continued in the semifinals over the weekend.
West Michigan will have representatives in four of eight state championship games over Thanksgiving weekend!
Just one win away from the finals!
As we enter the Michigan High School Football Semifinals, many West Michigan teams are still in the hunt for a state championship.
See the schedule for this weekend's games.
Taking a page right out of the "Never Been Kissed" playbook (Drew Barrymore? "Josie Grossie"? C'mon! You know you saw that movie.) a 21-year-old Lansing man forged documents to pose as a high school student. James Nash transferred to Mount Pleasant High School during the first week of school, claiming to be 17-year-old Javier Jones. Now why would anyone ever want to go back to high school? Cafeteria food? Book reports? To scam on underage, naive high school girls? Well maybe, but mostly James Nash wanted to play high school football.
