The App That Could Keep You Safe When You’re Out Alone

Kitestring is an app on the market whose main goal is to make sure people get from point A to point B safely, and will notify their emergency contacts if they don't. To be fair, this isn't an ingenious, new idea. There are a couple of other apps like it out there. But, in my opinion, Kitestring is probably the best. Unlike bSafe or Nirbhaya, both of which both alert your emergency contacts if you're in trouble, Kitestring doesn't require you to touch anything (bSafe) or shake your phone (Nirbhaya) to let people know that you're possibly in danger. In order for Kitestring to work, you literally have to do nothing.

‘Classic’ 80′s Movies We’ve Never Seen

Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of the day that the the brain, the athlete, the basket case, the princess, and the criminal all sat through Saturday detention together in the movie "The Breakfast Club". When I read that it got me to thinking about something that happened to me over the weekend.

I admitted to a group of friends that I have never seen "Footloose" or "Dirty Dancing", and when I said that,  you would have thought that I insulted their mothers. No one could believe that I had never seen these iconic 80's movies (let's be fair, I was pretty young when the 80's ended.) So, I thought I would ask all of you which "classic" 80's movies you've never seen. Turns out I'm not alone.

There’s A National Clown Shortage – I Couldn’t Be Happier

I was perusing the Internet this morning and discovered that there's a shortage of clowns in the United States these days. I actually gleefully sighed when I read it, not because I want to see clowns out of work, but because clowns are terrifying demon creatures.

Five Boy Bands Wendy Misses, But You May Have Never Heard Of

I make no secret of the fact that I love boy bands. There were so many to choose from back in the late 80's through the early 2000's, but I was a die-hard Blockhead (NKOTB fan, for those of you not in the know). The thing is, the New Kids weren't my only boy band loves. I was also really into a lot of short-lived boy bands that barely anyone else remembers. Here are the five that I miss the most.

New Sports Bar Catering To Women Is Offensive To My Delicate Lady Sensibilities

I am a woman. A woman who happens to enjoy sports. And while it's not often that I'll go to a sports bar to take in a Lions or Tigers or Red Wings game, it's been known to happen. Generally, the only thing at a sports bar that will irritate me while watching a game is the overly enthusiastic bros at the giant table who yell and high-five each other every time something even remotely positive happens. "The Lions didn't score a touchdown, but no one fumbled the ball! High five, bro!" *everyone slaps hands while I roll my eyes so hard it gives me a migraine*

That being said, I find no reason for there to be a sports bar that caters specifically to women, especially when it's done the way this new bar in New York City is. What way is that exactly? The wrong way.

‘The LEGO Movie’ Review

Few things scream "cash grab" as loudly as a movie about a popular children's toy, as these productions rely highly on the brand recognition of children and nostalgia of adults. Making a good movie inspired by pre-existing playthings is such a rare thing that it almost seems impossible. Thankfully, Phil Lord and Chris Miller -- the directing duo behind the charming 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs' and the hilarious '21 Jump Street' reboot -- are known for turning terrible-sounding projects into spectacularly entertaining adventures. And they've done the impossible with 'The LEGO Movie', creating a wonderful narrative that perfectly captures the wonder and joy of playing with the iconic building blocks.

Wendy Forgot Her Hair Tie And Attempts To Improvise [Photos]

Today has been a weird day. I noticed half way to work this morning that I forgot to put my glasses on. I wasn't surprised, really, as yesterday I had come to work with two unmatching (but very similar) boots on. It's been a heck of a week.

The no glasses thing has been annoying, but not too problematic. However, this afternoon I discovered a bigger problem - I forgot to bring a hair tie to work! I ALWAYS have a hair tie around my wrist, but this morning it must have slipped my mind. I decided it was time to improvise. Below is a series of photos of how that went.

Lifetime Remakes ‘Flowers In The Attic’ and It Is Just as Horrible as You Would Think

I like to think of myself of a well-read individual who enjoys literature from various genres.

I enjoy historical fiction, books with lots of satire that try to make some sort of profound statement about the folly of man, and occasionally what I like to call "fluff books," which are ones that I can easily breeze through in an afternoon while lounging on the sofa.
