Michigan Beaches May Go Smoke-Free

While in Grand Rapids this week, Governor Rick Snyder introduced the Health and Wellness plan.  One part of this plan is to give the DNR the power to make state beaches smoke free.

The need to improve overall health and the desire keep our beaches clean were both cited as reasons to go smoke-free at Michigan owned and operated beaches.

Michigan’s No-Fault Insurance Law May Change [VIDEO]

Motorists in Michigan are required to purchase unlimited, lifetime medical benefits under Michigan's no-fault law.  Michigan's Senate Bill 293 would change that requirement.

Under Bill 293 Michigan motorists would be able to choose their own level of coverage.

Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm's book 'A Governor's Story: The Fight for Jobs and America's Economic Future' was set to go on sale on September 20.  It was made available sooner than expected when a Lansing bookstore began selling it this week.

The book should be available everywhere on September 20.

University Of Michigan May Ban The Sale Of Bottled Water On Campus

It wasn't too long ago that bottled water was a bit of a luxury.  Today, bottled water is so common that the waste from the bottles has become controversial.

But GOP presidential candidate and Tea Party darling Michele Bachmann apparently missed the memo, because after the group White People Funk Band — itself a regrettable name — played at one of her campaign rallies, she took the stage and asked the crowd, “Who likes White People?!”

Michigan Bar Owners May Ban Lawmakers Over Smoking Ban

Bar and restaurant owners who are upset about Michigan's workplace smoking ban have dreamed up a ban of their own to fight back.

An organization called Protect Private Property Rights in Michigan claim  that roughly 500 bars statewide plan to ban state lawmakers from their establishments starting September 1st.

The faculty at Central Michigan University was on strike when classes began this morning.

Now an Isabella County judge has ordered the faculty back to work.  The faculty union says they will comply with the order.
