Tuesday brought numerous elections across West Michigan. Grand Rapids Community College's request for nearly $100 million was one of many proposed millages.
Schools also on Tuesday's ballot include: Allendale, Coopersville, Grand Haven, Grandville, Holland, Hudsonville, Lowell, Northview, Spring Lake, West Ottawa, and more.

A new proposal in Lansing would offer free college tuition to all Michigan high school graduates.
Graduates would have to attend a state college or university. The proposal is estimated to cost $1.8 billion the first year.

The primary is very important, but now that we have had time to reflect on the whole thing, it reminds me a little of a kids' soccer game.

Saline Area Schools (near Ann Arbor) is considering mandating that all of their schools recite the Pledge of Allegiance daily. This issue was brought to the Saline Board of Education by Trustee David Holden earlier this week.
The idea received mixed reactions.
We can all agree on the importance of our Great Lakes and the need to take care of them, but sometimes the environment and business clash. New, cleaner technology can be expensive to implement and can be a strain on business. Exactly where to draw the line between business and environment is a continually evolving question.
