Putting Your Kid In A Padded Bra? Just Another Episode Of ‘Toddlers & Tiaras’ [VIDEO]

"Toddlers & Tiaras"... I have no words. This show is such a train wreck, but I can't help but watch every time I come across it. I've seen the episode where that poor little girl is terrified about getting her eyebrows waxed. I've seen the one with the little boy who is a full blown diva at the age of six. I've seen the way that these mothers act towards their children, and I don't get it.

I'm sure that part of it is that these women are living vicariously through their cute-as-a-button four year old, but seriously? The things that they say to these kids should have CPS knocking on their doors.

Illinois Mom Beats Adult Children In Court

Growing up, there were certain things that I could count on. On random holidays (Halloween, 4th of July, Thanksgiving) I would get a card in the mail from my aunt and uncle who live in Gaylord with a dollar in it. My grandmother would probably give me a check for $11 on my birthday. And if I told my parents that I needed yet another pair of new shoes for yet another sport, they were probably going to tell me to buy them with my own money because I already had plenty of shoes (which I did). I think that that was a pretty normal childhood, even though my parents didn't want to buy me 47 new pairs of shoes every year, I don't consider them to be bad parents.

That's because I'm normal. You probably feel the same about your parents. And that's because you're normal, too. These kids I'm about to tell you about, they are in no way normal.

Lingerie For Four Year Olds? No Thanks, France.

I have to say it again, I know I'm not a parent, but... I’m pretty liberal when it comes to fashion, and I’m all for kids playing dress up at home. But I can't imagine letting a child put on lingerie -- not even inside the house. Wanting to look fabulous is one thing, but looking sexy as a kindergartener is not.

And, frankly, it's kind of creepy

That’s why I have to wonder what kind of mother would buy her daughter items from Jours Après Lunes, a new French lingerie and loungewear line aimed at girls 4- to 12-years-old.

Not Normal: Parents Spending $32,000 On A 6-Year-Old’s Birthday Party

Did you catch the season premiere of TLC's Outrageous Kid Parties last night? In case you missed it, it was basically two half-hours of complete and total insanity. It's almost too hard to describe. But, I'll try. Basically the only description that you need is "insane".

Brown Bag Lunches Could Cause Illness

Brown bag lunches packed by parents can be an inexpensive alternative to school-prepared lunches, but they can also make kids sick if not kept at a safe temperature, according to a new study.

Even lunches that include ice packs can reach unsafe temperatures.

Awkward Pregnancy Photos – A Disturbing New Trend

You know, I feel like I start out a lot of my blogs with "I don't have kids, but..." or some sort of variation of it. And I'm going to do it again.

I've never been pregnant, but I can't believe some of the photos that women let people take of them when they are.  I mean, I get wanting to document your upcoming bundle of joy, and that's fine. When done tastefully. And preferably clothed.

Naming Baby – What Strategy Do You Use?

While I have never had to name anything other than a dog and two fish (Wookie, Waldorf and Statler, respectively), I have a lot of friends who are getting to the point where they have to name children.

It's becoming harder and harder these days to come up with a name that's unique, but not too unique. A name that no one else in your family or circle of friends have already used. A name that works well with your last name (note: please don't make your kid's first and last name rhyme).

New High School Allows Students to Earn College Degree and Land Job with IBM

The IBM International Foundation and the New York City Public Schools have collaborated to create the new Pathways in Technology Early College High School, which will open in September.

Dubbed “P-Tech,” students can earn a standard four-year diploma, or opt to stay for two extra years — after which they’ll graduate with an associate’s degree in computer science from CUNY’s College of Technology (City Tech) for free. They can then continue their studies at City Tech, attend other colleges and apply the credits they’ve already earned, or be considered for employment by IBM’s IT department and at other companies.

Group Pushes For Warning Labels on Hot Dogs

Instead of grouping hot dogs with baseball and apple pie, a national medical group wants you to consider them as bad for you as cigarettes.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a Washington, D.C. group that promotes preventive medicine and a vegan diet, unveiled a billboard last Monday near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the advisory: "Warning: Hot dogs can wreck your health." It also encourages people to visit their website.
